Dear Coach:

I would like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself. My name is Rory Smith and I have just completed my junior year at Buckeye Trail High School in Lore City, Ohio. Our softball team just completed a very successful season, and as I begin my summer travel ball season, I am also beginning to narrow down my choices for college.

I have spent time with my athletic director, who is also my assistant coach, doing research on which colleges would be a good match for me both academically and athletically. I am very interested in your college and would appreciate receiving information about your school, as well as about the softball program.

Our high school team just completed a season where we finished 17-10 overall, placed second in our conference, earned the number one seed in our nine team sectional, and won the sectional championship. Personally, I earned 1^st Team Eastern District honors and also was selected all-league in both of the conferences that we participate in. I will be playing in the

All-Ohio Underclassman Tournament in Pickerington on June 25^th and 26^th for the second year in a row. I also will be playing summer travel ball with the Ohio Valley Hurricanes. I have enclosed a copy of our schedule in hopes that you will be able to see me play this summer. You may also contact my high school coach if you are interested in seeing a video of me in one of our games.

Academically, I have participated in a college preparatory program here at Buckeye Trail High School maintaining a 3.66 grade point average and ranking 17^th in a graduation class of 101 students. My ACT test score was a 19 and I plan to retake the test this fall. I am unsure at this time of my intended course of study in college.
